Buildings Inventory

Preservation Wayne is pleased to announce its Detroit Historic Building Inventory, an ongoing research and public information project.

The inventory combines Detroit’s National, State and Local Register properties, as well as additional structures worthy of consideration, for a first-ever comprehensive list of historic properties in the city.

This evolving database will provide a framework for strategic planning as we track the health of our city’s diminishing stock of historic buildings.

With additional resources, we hope to make the inventory publicly accessible both on-line and in an annual report, with analysis, images, and mapping technology to illustrate Detroit’s unique urban fabric.

2009 Update:  With the help of Daniel Lee, Michigan State University student and our summer intern for 2009 and the guidance of new board member Tom Ball, our inventory has been built upon and has truly become a working tool for Preservation Wayne.  We are currently looking for volunteers to help complete the images for the inventory to date.

2010 Update:  We have four photo interns working on the images for the building inventory.  These interns represent Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan University and University of Michigan-Dearborn.  More information on the progress to follow!
